چکیده

This paper is based on an independent study which had two goals. First was to apply the principles of dynamics to understand the behavior of complex mechanical systems. Within this theoretical framework, the Automatic Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Systems (ADAMS) software package was used to make virtual models and accurate simulations of these systems. This part of the project was mainly a learning experience; the only objective was to gain experience with the virtual prototyping process and become proficient with the ADAMS package. Phase two of the study involved applying the modeling and simulation methods learned on a tracked vehicle model (in this case, a hydraulic excavator model). An in-depth description of the modeling process is provided. The goal was to investigate how the response of the model changed when the running conditions and methods of propulsion were varied. Results of the model’s responses are provided, with analysis of the driving torque, forward velocity, bushing shearing stress and the idler tensioning system. The results are followed by a conclusion of the independent study which focuses on the challenges and possibilities that tracked vehicle simulations present.

The Utilization of High Fidelity Simulation in the Support of UAV Launch Phase Design: Three Case Studies

Improvement of the launch phase of a jet powered Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) with Jet Assisted Take Off (JATO), has been the subject of attention in the UAV industry. Use of flight simulation tools reduces the risk and required some amount of flight testing for complex aerospace systems. Full nonlinear equations of motion are used to study and simulate this maneuver and three case studies of ...

30 road ~odels are widely used in many computer applications such as racing games and driving simulations_ However, almost all hl~h.-fideilly 3D road models were generated manually by professional artists at the expense of intensive labor. There are ver:J few eXlsllng methods for automatically generating 30 high-fidelity road networks, especially those existing in the real world. This paper pr....

Tetrahedral Image-to-Mesh Conversion Software for Anatomic Modeling of Arteriovenous Malformations

We describe a new implementation of an adaptive multi-tissue tetrahedral mesh generator targeting anatomic modeling of Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) for surgical simulations. Our method, initially constructs an adaptive Body-Centered Cubic (BCC) mesh of high quality elements. Then, it deforms the mesh surfaces to their corresponding physical image boundaries, hence, improving the mesh fideli...

Vehicle Modeling for High - Dynamic Driving Simulator Applications

When introducing commercial driving simulators a few years ago, the main interest was focused either on operating the vehicle or on the reactions of the driver in traffic and in emergency situations. A comprehensive modeling of the vehicle dynamics was not required for these tasks. However, there are driving simulator applications which make much higher demands on the modeling of the vehicle dy...

Study of Vibration Specifications of a Three-axle Truck Using Lagrange Method

In this research, Ride quality of a three-axle truck is investigated to understand its vibration specifications and influence of it on special load. The truck is Benz 2624, and the load is rather sensitive to vibrations. The system is considered for an off-road duty. Hence, the vehicle is modeled as a nineteen-degree of freedom system and its equations of motion are derived by employing Lagrang...
